Reading: Genesis 39:1-41:57
The story of Joseph, teaches us many life lessons that can empower us on our journey with God. Joseph, a young man with great dreams and a huge destiny upon his life discovered that life isn’t always fair.
… For he gives his sunlight to both the evil and the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust too.
Matthew 5:45
But Joseph made a decision in the midst of his setbacks to trust in God to take care of him. Joseph allowed the challenges and opportunities he faced to become the tools that shaped him to fulfill his destiny. When the outcome of his issues seemed unjust or the words of others waned, Joseph did not grow bitter, but purposed to become better.
Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered.
Hebrews 5:8
- Instead of allowing the issues of life to cause him to back off and resign, Joseph tackled all that he did with excellence as unto the Lord.
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.
Colossians 3:23-24
- When opportunities presented a shortcut to his success and prosperity, Joseph didn’t buy into the temptation as he desired to please his God.
…he himself has no more authority here than I have! He has held back nothing from me except you yourself because you are his wife. How can I do such a wicked thing as this? It would be a great sin against God.”
Genesis 39:9
As you go about your day, make a decision to look at life from a fresh perspective. Don’t allow the challenges you face to define you, but let them be the tools that refine you for the destiny that the Lord has for you. For your God is watching over you to complete what he has begun.
And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.
Philippians 1:6
As you endure this divine discipline, remember that God is treating you as his own children. Who ever heard of a child who is never disciplined by its father?
Hebrews 12:7
Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
Galatians 6:9
